Updates

January 2023

Soren Kierkegaard, Danish Christian Philosopher said:  “Life can only be understood looking backward – but must be lived looking forward.”

Looking back at the first 12 years of Fruit Bearers, I now see that the Lord had a much different mission in mind for our ministry.  Or perhaps a much deeper, more far-reaching mission than I first understood.

Initially, He told us to “go into the hills, mountains and far-flung places of Negros Oriental, find children with disabilities, and show them my love.”  We have done that and, along the way something far more important has happened.

Fruit Bearers has taken the Gospel of Christ to some of the darkest, most God-starved places of Negros Oriental.  Places the enemy has had to himself for far too long.  Places no other Christian ministry has desired to enter.

Whenever Fruit Bearers enters a community in the mountains, we are faithful to tell the people that we are there because the Lord Jesus sent us.  When a crippled child gets surgery enabling him or her to walk, the Lord gets the credit.  When a child with a heart defect receives surgery saving his or her life, the Lord Jesus is praised.  When a child with a cleft lip or cleft palate gets corrective surgery, the Lord gets the credit, not Fruit Bearers or any individual.

The family then wants to know more about Jesus.  Bible studies start in homes led by our pastors.  Home churches spring from the Bible studies and, at times, churches with congregations and buildings of their own develop.

Communities with no churches and no Christ-centered influence now have both.  And these churches are growing.  Not only with Fruit Bearers-connected people but with families, friends and others who have had no connection at all to Fruit Bearers.  The Gospel of the Lord Jesus is being spread in ways and in areas we never could have imagined.

Looking forward, our goal for 2023 and beyond is to keep on doing what the Lord has us doing.  Along with helping children with  disabilities, spreading the Gospel is the highest and best calling we can possibly have. And we love taking it to dark places where no one else cares (or sometimes, dares) to go.

In Christ,

Wes & Judy Robbie

Letter from Fruit Bearers Ministries (Nov 2020):

Fruit Bearers Banquet that Wasn’t

Fruit Bearers continues to spread God’s love to children with disabilities and families with great needs.

Food goes to the hungry, emergency medical cases receive help, Bible studies and church services continue.

For families in desperate living situations--sleeping side-by-side on the floor in one room or under a roof that leaks-- we deliver materials so families can help themselves.

Meeting with you at our Fall Banquet is our biggest fundraiser every year. It’s so important for Fruit Bearers. But this year, Covid-19 makes our banquet Impossible.

Yet, we still need your help. Please consider giving your tax-deductible donation to Fruit Bearers Ministries. You can also give through the website, fruitbearerministries.com using the PayPal option on the donation page.

We are doing out best to be faithful to you, our children and their families.

Their situations? Like ours but without resources:

Virus, no books, and usually no electricity means no school at all;

Virus, no money, no hospital--it is too far to walk;

Fruit Bearers gives hope.

Please, prayerfully remember Fruit Bearers in your Christmas, year-end giving.

Our families depend on us.

Thank you so much

Wes & Judy Robbie- Fruit Bearers Ministries

Update on Fruit Bearers Ministries

DESSERT DASH MONEY

Last year, Fruit Bearers promised to use the Dessert Dash money to buy a safe vehicle for our Pastors.

We went from a dirt bike that would carry 6 to a midsize SUV that will carry 6-10 safely.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Last year we had 21 VBS with 800 kids plus adults attend. Many accepted Jesus.

3 of the VBS were in new neighborhoods

BEYOND

We expanded our discipleship program to 24 kids

All attended our Intern Training Program in December

All served in our VBS and now help in our various churches

All attend weekly or bimonthly “ intensive” Bible studies

SPONSORSHIP AND GOING THE EXTRA MILE

Sponsorship: Fruit Bearers helps needy children by connecting them and their families to sponsors, who take care of their school and everyday needs such as food and transportation.

Going the Extra Mile: Medical Expenses

Meet Paul John

Paul John lost his leg when an out-of-control dump truck ran over him and dragged him along a guard rail.

It changed Paul John’s hopes for a better life through education. The walk to school was too far and steep for an amputee to walk, and the family simply did not have the money to pay for a ride.

Then a caring man sponsored John Paul, his help meant Paul John would have transportation and other daily/school costs met he could go to school.

However, having one leg is difficult. Paul John needed us to Go the Extra Mile for him, when the Tebow Hospital added a prosthesis department, we check on his eligibility. Paul John was accepted and is now being fitted with a prosthesis.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

VBS for the Deaf

For the 1st time we hosted a vbs for the deaf, using their culture and “sign language” to communicate. We expected 35 participants and 85 people came. Finally, the Deaf learned about Jesus in their own language.

Meet Jaymar

Two years ago, he did not know Jesus. In fact, he didn’t even know his own name. After we enrolled him in a school with sign language classes, he began to communicate.

His mom, anxious for him to “know” Jesus, took him to one of our VBS’s, he just sat because the lesson was oral with out sign language. During our VBS for the deaf, Jaymar had many questions answered. When he accepted Jesus, his mother’s eyes were filled with joy.
